Worship

At Hope Lutheran Church we offer a traditional liturgical service, which is a structured and communal form of public worship, intended to foster a sense of community amongst its members, and strengthen our faith not only as a congregation, but as individuals. We feature a specific order of service: readings from scripture and sermons, prayers, the singing of hymns and contributions of musical guests, and rituals involving the sacraments, such as the Eucharist or "Holy Communion".

Lasting about an hour, our services usually begin by celebrating any milestones in the lives of our members, such as birthdays and anniversaries, followed by special announcements of pending events. The singing of hymns by the congregation is interspersed throughout the service, and frequently there will be performances from the Hope Choir, or special pieces featuring outstanding musical artists from Rossmoor and the surrounding communities.

The service usually follows this order:

    • Welcome & Introduction

    • Confession & Forgiveness

    • Greeting

    • Prayer of the Day

    • Bible Readings & The Gospel

    • The Sermon Message

    • Apostles’ Creed

    • Prayers of Intercession

    • Offering & Prayer

    • Holy Communion

        - Words of Institution

        - The Lord’s Prayer

        - Prayer after Communion

    • Blessing & Dismissal

The service is immediately followed by a Coffee Fellowship hour.

FIRST TIME VISITORS: Rossmoor is a gated community. If you are a first time visitor, and not a resident of Rossmoor, please contact us at least 48 hours before your first visit so that we can give your name(s) to the gate personnel. When you enter through one of the visitor lanes on the left, they may ask to see your driver's license. Sometimes it helps to say "I am visiting Hope Lutheran Church" but other times they may check names against their list of expected guests.
