    Senior Pastor

    Pastor Andreas has become the Senior Pastor at Hope Lutheran after a vote at a congregational meeting on October 1st, 2023 after serving as Bridge Pastor for over a year. He was born and raised in Germany and studied at Tübingen University in Germany and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was ordained at University Lutheran Church in Stanford, California, on Martin Luther's birthday in 1996. He worked as a chaplain at Stanford Hospital and held similar positions in St. Louis, Missouri, and San Antonio, Texas, before pastoring congregations in San Francisco, Santa Clara, and the East Bay in California. He has trained to become an Intentional Interim Minister for congregations in leadership transition. Most recently, he has served in that capacity at three different churches in Oakland, California. For the last 21 years, he has been an Assistant Night Minister in San Francisco, providing pastoral care by walking the streets and answering phone calls. He is also a spiritual director, holding two diplomas from San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California. In his spare time, he listens to music (from classical to world music), follows international soccer, and frequently browses in book stores all over the San Francisco Bay Area.


  • Wayne Anderson

    Minister of Music

    As Minister of Music, Wayne is a skilled and gifted leader utilizing his gifts to encourage and equip others to share their musical gifts in the music ministries at Hope. Wayne works closely with the pastors to present a high-quality worship service with a vibrant music program including two choirs and various guest musicians. Wayne graduated from the University of Utah (BA) and the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, CA (M. Div). He and his wife, Margaret, have two sons, one daughter and seven grandchildren. Wayne enjoys teaching piano, playing golf and relentless puzzle solving.


  • Judy Ryken

    Cantor

    Judy has the responsibility of leading our weekly musical worship and occasionally providing special music. She is a soprano soloist and also directs several local choral and musical theater groups.

  • margaret Anderson

    Care Ministry

    As a part of the Care Ministry Team at Hope, Margaret utilizes her listening and communication skills to care for the congregation at Hope. She visits members in their homes, to offer compassionate care. 

  • Carolyn Schick

    Financial Manager

    As Financial Manager at Hope, Carolyn oversees and records all contributions, deposits, accounts payable, monthly financial reports, payroll and the annual budgeting process. She works closely with the Council in managing the Hope Endowment Fund. Carolyn has served as a volunteer Financial Manager at Hope since 2008. She and her husband, Marv, have been married for fifty-three years and have three married children and three grandchildren.  Carolyn enjoys scrapbooking and volunteering each week at Hope and the area hospital.

  • Robin KannO

    Operations Manager

    As the Operations Manager at Hope, Robin assists and supports the pastor in managing the congregation through the implementation and maintenance of records, policies and procedures and administration for the effective operation of the church. Robin’s professional background is in Information Technology as an applications programmer, systems programmer, manager and director. She is a “go to” person for all members of the congregation when they have requests, questions, suggestions, concerns, or when they need help. Robin has one son and enjoys gardening, genealogy and baking.
